Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! is a breezy watch. The film might have many loopholes, but at no point can you accuse this one of being shallow, feel critics.
Taran Adarsh, Bollywood Hungama
Critic's take: Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! is more of a coming-of-age movie with a focus on contemporary relationships and interactions. The writing has its highs and lows in this hour; it's absorbing at times, but not making much of an impact intermittently. The voyage to the culmination, which should've ideally been the icing on the cake, is erratic, although the film is back on track towards the closing moments.
Performances: Kareena Kapoor Khan is eye-catching in her appearance and aptitude, both. Imran Khan springs a big, big surprise in this one. He is absolutely endearing in a role that appears intricate, to start with. His growth from a carefree youngster to a conscientious man, from a confused lad to a confident guy wins you over.
Saurabh Dwivedi, India Today
Critic's take: Had Puneet stuck to a different kind of film perhaps one that catered more to generation Z's rich tastes, then that film would've definitely fared better.
Performances: Imran Khan's acting in the movie is enough to put an entire audience to sleep. Kareena did okay comparatively. But there's no one else really in a big role, to pit her acting skills against.
Critic's take: Punit Malhotra has shown a marked improvement since his last venture. There are innumerable flaws in this film too but at no point can you accuse this one of being shallow. He finally has delivered a coming-of-age story.
Performances: Imran Khan gives his usual eyebrow dancing performance. His rendering of the role is bland but his character isn't. Kareena Kapoor Khan is feisty as Dia. Shraddha Kapoor shows a marked improvement in her role in the cameo.

Critic's take: You just can't take movies like Gori Tere Pyaar Mein seriously. That's a given. It's supposed to be a breezy watch, leaving us with a momentary, happy kick. It's much like candyfloss - fluffy, sugary, pretty and pink
Performances: Imran Khan sleepwalks through Gori Tere Pyar Mein and uses his versatile eyebrows - lifting and dropping them - to capture Sriram aka SriDevi's emotional turmoil. Kareena Kapoor Khan breezes through as the feisty Dia Sharma, who picks any, and every, issue to revolt against.

Critic's take: Gori Tere Pyaar Mein is essentially two different films separated by an intermission, with a few, weak common threads between the two.
Performances: Imran Khan plays Imran Khan (again) and not Sriram Venkat. Khan is awkward unless he's giving you his chocolate boy smile or looking forlornly into the distance. Kareena Kapoor Khan is believable for the most part except when, being an activist.
