Hours before Arjun-The Warrior Prince releases, and a day before the reviews appear, here’s what you can expect from this week’s release.

Film: Arjun: The Warrior Prince

Cast: Yuddvir Bakolia (voice of Arjun), Anjan Srivastav (voice of Lord Shiva), Sachin Khedekar (voice of Lord Krishna)

Plot: A young Arjun, one of the most popular characters from the Mahabharata, heads out on the ‘hero’s journey’ of self-discovery

Director: Arnab Chaudhuri (debut director)
He previously worked in TV for 18 years. He is trained as an animator and has been part of the animation industry for almost his entire professional life.

Music:Vishal-Shekhar
They did the background score.

Controversies/stunts: This film has been in the making for the last four years. It first made news in 2008, after a brief promo was aired in |theatres announcing the ambitious project.

Marketing/hype: The official trailer of Arjun: The Warrior Prince was attached with screenings of The Avengers around the country, reaching out directly to their potential audience.

Our assessment
The promo of the UTV production is impressive as is the background score. And the story is one that most Indians already connect to. This may just give the animation industry that much-needed shot in the arm.
