Highlight Story

Talking about the variety of roles he has done so far, actor Emraan Hashmi (right) said he always plays characters which people can relate with. “My characters always do wrong things and then there is redemption. That is why, people can relate with them. This has become my persona on screen. I find this fascinating,” he said during a promotional event on Monday.

The actor, who will be seen in the role of a crime reporter in his next film, Rush, said an attempt has been made to keep the character real but some level of suspense had been added to make it more entertaining.

“We have tried to make the character as genuine as possible, but have added a commercial touch to the story as well. We have shown an authentic world about TRPs and breaking news and have added murder and suspense around it to make it more interesting,” Hashmi said.

Hashmi said his character is not based on any one crime reporter. “There are a lot of journalists who come to mind when you read the script. But it is a combination of many and it is a completely fictional world,” he said.

Directed by the late Shamin Desai, the film also features Aditya Pancholi, Neha Dhupia and Sagarika Ghatge in major roles and is expected to hit the screens on October 24.
