Deepika Padukone, who is riding high on successive hits and critical acclaim, believes younger sister, 22-year-old Anisha, is her harshest critic.
“That’s true. Anisha is someone who doesn’t mince her words but at the same time, she is so articulate and sensitive that she knows how to put across her views without hurting the other person. She won’t say anything just to make me feel good about myself.
I know she has loved (Goliyon Ki Raasleela) Ram-Leela,” says Deepika.
Having said that, the 27-year-old actor adds, “I have always been more of a sisterly and motherly figure to her than that of a friend. But I feel that in the last one-and-a-half years, our equation has changed. Though I realise I can’t keep treating her like a child, I am still very protective about her.”
Besides Anisha, Deepika is also revelling in the way her parents — Prakash and Ujjala Padukone — have reacted to her latest film.
“They are suddenly like, ‘Have we given birth to you? Where has this person come from?’ They know me as their daughter and not this completely different person on screen. They have never seen me undergo emotions like anger and rage that Leela goes through. I am not that kind of a person, so they find it tough to relate such emotions with their daughter,” she says.
