It’s not critics’ reviews, starry ratings or the box office collections of Singham Returns that’s closest to Bebo aka Kareena Kapoor Khan’s heart. It is the reaction of her doting niece Samaira — her sister Karisma Kapoor’s nine-year-old daughter — that’s floored the begum of Pataudi.
“Samaira freaked out watching me in the scene where I drive a rickshaw. Karisma said, she was like, ‘Mom, maasi is driving a rickshaw!’ She also couldn’t stop laughing in the scene where I beat up a reporter,” says Bebo, overjoyed as she reveals that her parents (Randhir and Babita), Karisma and the kids, Samaira and Kiaan, went to watch the film at Gaiety Galaxy, a single screen theatre in Mumbai.

“Karisma went there after 18 years or so... we used to go there as kids for film premieres. Of late, however, it’s only been about multiplexes, so Karisma wanted to give the kids a feel of the single screen, and enjoy the film with the front row audience and see the reaction of the masses,” says Kareena, who was recently in London to unveil the new look of her wax statue at Madame Tussauds. “It has been very hectic over the last few months ... Saif and I haven’t spent time properly for five months now, so I’m gonna take a month off, before I start shooting for my next with Salman (Khan) in October,” she says.
