Actor Naseeruddin Shah and his younger son Vivaan will share the big screen for the first time in a film based on gangster Haji Mastan’s life. Mastan was a Mumbai gangster and smuggler in the 1960s and 1970s; and the film is titled Mastaan. Both father and son were part of actor Priyanka Chopra-starrer 7 Khoon Maaf, but never shared the screen, as Vivaan was the narrator in the film.
With Mastan, producer Sunil Bohra, who earlier produced films such as Not A Love Story and Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, will launch Vivaan in full-fledged lead role of a gangster. “We are glad that Naseer Sahab agreed to do the film. To get both Vivaan and him for one film was the need of the script. We are happy that both of them came on board. I am sure they will create magic when they share the screen together,” says Bohra.
Mastaan will be shot in Mumbai, Gujarat, Malaysia and Dubai. It’s pre-production is in full swing and the film is slated to go on floors in May this year. The film will be directed by Rocky Khanna who has been an associate producer with filmmaker Chandan Arora for almost eight years.
