Actor Naseeruddin Shah will be next seen in Dedh Ishqiya, the sequel to the 2010 hit film, Ishqiya.
Recently, the makers held an event in the city to launch the second trailer of the film. And while the cast, including Madhuri Dixit, Arshad Warsi and Huma Qureshi, were present at the do, Naseeruddin gave it a miss. He was busy with the final rehearsal of his upcoming play, Katha Collage.
Apparently, the actor had made it clear to the producers that he would attend the event only if it was held at a venue close to the place he was rehearsing at (Privthi Theatre, Juhu). However, the event was organised at a cinema hall in Malad. "It would have taken him quite a bit of time to reach the venue after wrapping up practice. That’s why he couldn’t come," says Ketan Maru, co-producer of the film.
Katha Collage was discontinued seven years ago after Naseeruddin’s elder son, Imaad, who was part of it, met with a train accident. The play now features the veteran actor’s younger son, Vivaan, in the cast.
Naseeruddin’s spokesperson says, "Since Prithvi remains closed on Monday, it was given out to Katha Collage’s team for rehearsals. We had booked the theatre for the whole day since, otherwise, there are shows taking place every day throughout the week. Katha Collage will first open in Pakistan in December and then return to the city in January."
