Indian actor Naseeruddin Shah has arrived in Lahore to participate in a programme, a media report said Thursday. Shah along with his family arrived in Lahore on Wednesday, reported the News International.
“Why would I come to Pakistan if I had no Aman ki Asha (desire for peace)?” Shah told the media outside the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
He said that he would stay in Pakistan for a week and would perform in a programme scheduled to be held in Lahore on December 1 and 2.
The news report did not elaborate on the type of programme. “We will do two shows of our drama based on Ismat Chughtai’s stories for Faiz Foundation. These shows will be staged on Dec 1 and 2 at the Alhamra centre,” The Express Tribune quoted Shah, as saying.
“The love I get here, I do not have the words to describe that. I don’t feel scared at all here. It feels like...like I have come back home,” he further said. Shah has previously worked in Pakistani stage and celluloid productions, most famously in the 2007 film Khuda Ke Liye. A few years ago, he had performed in a similar stage play at the Alhamra Theatre.
Shah will feature in a Pakistani Punjabi production Zinda Bhaag slated for a December release. The film is in its final stages. agencies
