Their cinematic trajectories represent two far ends of a spectrum but for the first time, Naseeruddin Shah and Mallika Sherawat will be seen together on the big screen. The actors are part of KC Bokadia’s political drama, Dirty Politics, which is based on the controversial killing of a nurse, Bhanwari Devi, allegedly by powerful politicians in Rajasthan.

In the film, Naseer will be seen playing a firebrand social worker. “He plays a revolutionary person who gives voice to the frustrations and anger of the common man. His is a major role in the film’s narrative,” confirms Bokadia, who will begin shooting with Naseer towards the end of July. “It’s always a dream come true for any director to work with Naseer saab. I am really looking forward to start shooting with him,” he adds.

It is believed that Bokadia, who has worked with Amitabh Bachchan in 1990 in the blockbuster Aaj Ka Arjun, had approached the actor for the part too. “He has a soft corner for me. But it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t work together on this film. We will team up on some other project in the future. Both Naseer saab and Bachchan saab are great in their own rights,” says the filmmaker.

The film’s final schedule will kick off mid-July onwards with Mallika. “We have wrapped most of the shooting. From July 25 onwards, we will film around 15 scenes with Naseer saab and then, the film will go into the post production stage. I am very happy with the way things have worked out,” says Bokadia.
