After Peepli Live, Liar’s Dice is the only Indian film to have made it to the competition category of this 10-day fest that starts January 16 in Utah.
Actor Geetanjali Thapa and debutante child actor Manya Gupta also star in the film. It also marks Malayalam actor Geetu Mohandas’ debut as a director.
The film is about a young tribal mother who leaves her native land with her three-year-old daughter in search of her missing husband.
“The story stretches from a small village on the Indo-Tibet border to the industrial city, Delhi. It’s set against the alarming backdrop of the socio-political conditions of India, where millions of labourers go missing, but are considered just a number in government records,” says Mohandas, who is thrilled about the movie.
