Nawazuddin Siddiqui is ready for a big switch. The actor, who has, till now only been seen in de-glam roles will go for a complete makeover to play a suave conman in director Sanjay Sharma’s next film, Black Currency.
The National Award winning actor also reveals that his character has a close reference to Amitabh Bachhan’s role in his 1978 hit Trishul. “As an actor, playing a role similar to one Amitabh Bachchan played in Trishul has been my dream role. I grew up watching Bachchan saab’s films and loved him in Trishul. I am very happy that my character in Black Currency resembles his,” says Nawazuddin, who plays an Indian tycoon who has stashed away millions in the World Bank.
“For the first time ever, I will be seen wearing expensive Savile Row suits, travelling in a private jet and choppers and conducting high profile meetings on exotic islands,” says Nawazuddin. Previously, the actor has played rustic characters in 2012 films such as Kahaani, Talaash and Gangs of Wasseypur.
Black Currency’s plot revolves around the business of counterfeit notes. Besides Nawazuddin, the film stars Minissha Lamba, Kapil Sharma and Hrishita Bhatt, among others.
