Actor Vivek Oberoi says that he was shocked by the reactions of film buffs who subjected him to hate comments and jokes for comparing his character, Kaal (Krrish 3), to late Hollywood legend Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning role of Joker in The Dark Knight (2008).
“The reactions were shocking,” says the 37-year-old, adding, “My comments were misinterpreted. I never said that my role was like Heath Ledger’s, which is iconic, and we all agree with that. I said that I was inspired by him, his role was brilliant.”
And it’s not just Ledger. Vivek, who has lent his voice to the character Electro in the Hindi version of the Amazing Spiderman 2, says that he is inspired by Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx, too.
“When I saw Jamie’s role in the film, I was blown away,” he says, adding, “The way he transforms himself through the movie is indeed brilliant, and I immediately wanted to do lend my voice to the on-screen character,” he says.
Praising Foxx’s work, Vivek adds, “I have done a lot of voiceovers in the past and I was a bit sceptical this time around. But then I saw the film and I just said to myself, ‘I am going to do it.’”
Besides work, the actor is busy campaigning in support of politicians for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. “I think actors should play a role in motivating the youth to participate in the elections,” he says.
