After a bevy of item numbers featuring Bollywood actors, a new item girl is all set to make her mark in B-Town. Reality TV beauty Mukti Mohan will be seen shaking her leg in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s forthcoming film, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster. Mukti was a participant in Star Plus’ reality show, Zara Nachke Dikha 2.
“Yes, I have shot for an energetic, nautanki kind of song,” informs Mukti. “Soon after I wrapped up Zara Nachke Dikha 2, I got a call from producers that they want me to reach the film sets immediately for an item song.” Singer Rekha Bhardwaj has sung the seductive item number, I love to love you baby.
“The song appears towards the end of the film. The entire star cast including Jimmy Sheirgill, Randeep Hooda and Mahie Gill share screen space in the song. I hope my song too achieves cult status like Munni Badnaam Hui… and Sheila Ki Jawani…,” says Mukti, adding that she didn’t undergo any special training for it. Mukti admits she was quite apprehensive about the number since she “had heard of the casting couch.” She adds, “So, I started making several demands like telling the producers that my sister Shakti would accompany me to the sets. They readily agreed to all the demands.”
While Mukti got a break with this item song, sister Shakti won the dance reality show, Dance India Dance 2. “There’s no jealously between us,” says Mukti, also referring to her elder sister Neeti Mohan, who is a pop singer. “In fact, Shakti didi became my spot didi on the sets,” she laughs. Mukti, who had participated in Sony’s Comedy Ka Jadoo, is also set to host Star Plus’s Just Dance, which has Hrithik Roshan as one of the judges. She says, “I am super excited to host the show. I can’t believe Hrithik will be on the show. All of us have grown up seeing him dance like a God.”
In fact, Mukti was trembling when she first met Hrithik during a press conference. “I just kept looking at him without saying anything. My family is also excited about my new assignment,” she says. She will be off to London in a few days for the auditions of Just Dance.
