Reacting to the constant comparisons being made between his Shaandaar co-star Alia Bhatt and ex-girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor said, "It is a big compliment for Alia that we are talking about similarities between her and Kareena. I think there are no comparisons or similarities as they both are different and both have done phenomenal work. Both are fantastic. Kareena is an established actress and Alia is also doing good with the kind of films that she has done. The only common connection is both Jab We Met (his film with Kareena) and Shaandaar are love stories."
Shahid, 34, and Kareena will be seen together in Abhishek Chaubey's
, which also stars Alia. It will be the former couple's first film since their break-up in 2009 but they are not sharing screen space in the movie. Shahid, who tied the knot with Delhi girl Mira Rajput last month, avoided questions on his married life at the event. When asked what Shaandaar gift he got for his wedding, he didn't reply, but Alia said, "We are Shaandaar gifts of his wedding."
Shahid will share the screen space with his father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor for the first time in
-starrer Shaandaar, also claimed that his dad was jealous when he was interacting with co-star Alia. Speaking at the trailer launch of his nextm Shaandaar, Shahid said, "Alia and my father had some connection. They used to have long conversation and they bonded over food. My father was jealous when I was talking to Alia...he was in relationship with the format of the film. As in the film he plays Alia's father and thinks no one is good for his daughter."
Shahid Kapoor says it's a big compliment for Alia to be compared to Kareena
The story of Shaandaar revolves around the wedding of Alia's elder sister, where plays Shahid the wedding planner. The trailer shows great chemistry between Alia and Shahid, and more so between Shahid and Pankaj Kapur.
Director Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar will for the first time bring together father-son pair - Pankaj Kapur and Shahid Kapoor - on the screen, where Pankaj plays Alia's father. "While shooting we both got along well. I had great time and it is because of Shaandaar that I got to work with my dad. Even my sister Sana is there in the film," the Jab We Met star said. The Haider star had great time shooting some scenes with his father. "There was a scene where we are doing bungee jumping and I got tired waiting for long...putting that harness. But my dad did not remove it even once ...I removed it twice," he added. Shahid has earlier been worked in a film directed by his dad, Mausam (2011) . "He is a natural actor. When I first shot with dad there were three four retakes. I felt I was overacting. The most beautiful moment was that I got an opportunity to act with my dad...standing in the same frame with him," Shahid added.
Shaandaar will hit the screens on October 22.
