Imran Khan turns down request to attend annual congregation in Vegas, believes in long-term bonds.

Imran Khan recently received a request to attend the annual congregation of one-night marriages in Las Vegas, United States. But interestingly, the actor turned down the offer to be present at the event that is slated to take place later this month.

“Going for this convention is out of the question because I haven’t had a one-night marriage in real life,” says Imran, who also doesn’t have the time to travel as he is busy preparing for his role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s next, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.

Though his next film, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (EMAET), revolves around a one-night marriage, the actor himself only believes in long-term relationships. However, he did enjoy meeting a few couples that have been married only for a day.

“One-night marriages work for some people who are die-hard romantics and want to get hitched quickly. It’s a personal choice. Some might find love and happiness in such relationships while others don’t,” says Imran, who married his long-time girlfriend Avantika Malik earlier this year, after being in a steady relationship with her for over eight years.

Ask Imran about his wife’s reaction to all of this and he laughs “These things have no bearing in real life. And seriously, Avantika wouldn’t care if I go or not. It’s all related to the film and she knows that.”

For his part in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (EMAET), Imran spoke to a few such married couples to get under the skin of his character. He says, “Some of them feel if they have got the right partner, why should they wait? I just wanted to know what makes them take such a step.”
