For the last 12 years, Hrithik Roshan made it a point to attend the grand Maha Shivratri celebrations at the Shiva temple built by his grandfather, J Om Prakash, in Apta in Raigad district, Maharashtra. However, this time, the actor will not be able to do so as he is busy working.
Until a day ago, Hrithik — who is shooting for director Ashutosh Gowariker’s next in Bhuj, Gujarat — had planned to travel to Mumbai, and then to Raigad, for the puja (that is scheduled to take place today, February 17). "In fact, he had already spoken to the director about taking a day off for this event. But then, at the last minute, he was informed that a big action sequence needed to be shot and that the shoot can’t be pushed for some unavoidable technical reasons," says an insider.
Usually, on Maha Shivratri, Hrithik heads to this temple along with his family including sister Sunaina, parents Rakesh and Pinky Roshan, his children, Hrehaan and Hridhaan, his grandfather and grandmother, Padma Om Prakash. "Besides doing the puja, the family hosts a traditional lunch. They also feed those from the area who visit and pray at this temple. All the men of the family, including Hrithik, oversee all the arrangements," adds the insider.
Despite repeated attempts, Hrithik couldn’t be reached for a comment.
