The 45-year-old, who is known for his religious outings to places such as Vaishno Devi regularly, seems to have re-worked on his beliefs.
The actor is now donating all the money, which is spent on making visits to temples, to charity. “Akshay believes that helping someone in need is also a way of praying. He believes that God is in everyone, so if you help a person in need, it automatically connects you with God,” says a source close to the actor.
It’s interesting to note that these reports have come at a time when the actor is playing God in his upcoming co-production Oh My God. The film hits the screens on September 28. Apparently, Akshay took the decision to do charity while filming the comedy-drama six months ago and has been making regular donations to help the cancer afflicted patients ever since.
While the exact amount donated by him is unknown, the actor is said to have spent around Rs 5-6 lakh.
Meanwhile, Akshay, who makes a comeback to the ‘Khiladi’ franchise with his production Khiladi 786, says he never really went away from the ‘khiladi’ tag.
“I feel great about doing one such movie again. It had never gone away from me because I have always done action sequences that involve risk-taking. It’s great because the word khiladi means a player and a sportsman. You can connect it with anything, so it’s definitely worth coming back to,” the actor says.
