After Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan, it’s sanjay dutt’s turn to hit the gym with a vengeance for a movie role. his upcoming film, tentatively titled thanedar returns (a remake of the 2003 Tamil hit, saamy), will see Sanjay play the part of a lean and mean police officer.
The role, the film’s producer, TP Agarwal, tells us, requires the actor to get in shape. in the process, the actor has had to trade his glass of whiskey for a pair of dumbbells.
“Sanjay has quit drinking, making an exception only on special occasions. he’s working out for two hours in the morning and another two hours in the evening,” says agarwal.
When contacted, Sanjay says, “I am excited about the character, so i’m trying hard to get in shape for it. a proper diet and some health drinks along with the right workout are required to get those muscles that fit the (look of the) character. i’ve already lost weight.”
Whe Hindi remake is being directed by Tamil film director KS Ravikumar. it will see sanjay play the role of a corrupt cop who takes bribes, but eventually after a change-of-heart, stands up against corrupt politicians. South Indian actor Vikram (remember Mani Ratnam’s 2010 film, Raavan?) played the part in the original blockbuster.
The film will also feature south actor Prakash Raj, who starred as the villain in wanted (2008) and Singham (2010). “Prakash plays the quintessential villain. we’ve also signed om puri for a pivotal role,” adds agarwal.
