Though Donn Bhat and Anirban Chakraborty are delighted with the success of their composition Mar Jaiyan from John Abraham’s debut production, Vicky Donor, but surprisingly the music composer duo says that they do not need any award for the same.
“We are not expecting any awards yet as we have just begun working in feature films. We have a long way to go before we could expect any awards,” says Anirban (Bann) who along with Donn is currently composing music for UTV’s film titled, Peter Gaya Kam Se.
Apparently their broken hearts were the inspiration behind the soulful music of the song that was composed almost impromptu.
“Shoojit Sircar (director of Vicky Donor) is an old friend. Over a casual evening tea, he mentioned about the film and asked for a song for a particular sequence. When we presented him with a rough version of Mar Jayian, he fell in love with it. We were fortunate to have Swanand Kirkire who wrote separate lyrics for both the versions of the song,” reveals Donn.
The duo admits that their biggest compliment came from their fans.
“We got more than 12 lakh hits on YouTube. That’s the best compliment we have received,” says Bann, who feels that it is not about a big Bollywood launch, but it is about making good music that will ultimately get noticed.
