Karan Johar and Siddharth Roy Kapur have had a successful run in the past, having collaborated on films such as Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013). Both these ventures were produces by Karan and presented and distributed by Siddharth’s company. Since then, rumours have been flying thick and fast that the two of them are coming together for another association — a kind of consortium to make films together. These rumours were further fuelled by the exit of Ronnie Screwvala in 2013 from Siddharth’s company after it was acquired by an MNC in 2011.
However, when we reached out to Karan about this buzz, he denied it, saying, “There are 30 other kinds of rumours doing the rounds. Where should I begin?"
The film-maker went on to say that he and Siddharth are good friends but the rumours of them starting a company together are unfounded. “Siddharth is a dear friend and a business associate, and that is that. I’m not joining hands with anyone. I’m very proud to run my company myself, and take the banner that my father (late film-maker Yash Johar) founded forward.”
