Actor Mahie Gill, who is best known for her critically acclaimed performance in Anurag Kashyap’s film Dev.D, is currently basking in the success of her recently released Punjabi flick, Carry On Jatta. “Life is great. I am so happy about the great response I got for Carry On Jatta. Though, there were many people who told me that I should not be doing it. But I am glad that I went ahead and did it,” says the 36-year old.
Hailing from Chandigarh, Gill feels Punjabi cinema is going through a great time. “I’m happy that Punjabi films are making a mark. Now, Punjabi movies are viewed in countries having a big Indian population like the US, UK and Canada. The future of Punjabi cinema seems bright,” says Gill, who has worked in films such as Gulaal, Not a Love Story, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster and Paan Singh Tomar. Talking about her upcoming films, Gill says, “I am doing the sequel of Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster. Then there is Michael, Buddha in a Traffic Jam, Mayanagri and the remake of Zanjeer.”

But, every time we are close to doing the thing, something or the other happens to spoil it. So eventually I am a very
lustful but frustrated Mona. Time has changed, therefore our roles are not the same as played by Binduji and Ajitji,” she says.
When it comes to her personal life, Gill remains tightlipped. Though, she is in a relationship currently, Gill doesn’t want to reveal much about her man except that he is not from the industry. When asked if marriage is on the cards in her near future, the actor says, “I have absolutely no plans of getting married at the moment.”
