While preparing for his role of a circus performer in his upcoming action film, Aamir Khan spent many weeks learning tap dancing. The actor even went to Australia for the same. However, we’ve now found out that he was trained by none other than Dein Perry, who in the past has choreographed the opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Summer Olympics.
“Aamir had to learn the ‘grungy tap dance’ that is high on energy and tougher than the classic form,” says a source close to the actor. Dein had also choreographed the animated film, Happy Feet Two in 2011.
During his stay in Sydney, Aamir trained extensively with Dein and even practised the moves with the professional’s other students, who were aged between 10 and 14. “He spent almost a month there because he wanted to understand the nuances of the dance,” adds the source.
When contacted, Dhoom:3’s spokesperson confirms the news, saying, “After the training finished, Dein and some of his team members also came to India to assist Aamir at the shoot, in case he needed any tips.” The film that also stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra is set to release around Christmas this year.
