The state of the Yamuna has been a cause for concern for the citizens of India, and especially for those living on the banks of the river, for a long time now. But recently, when Aditya Roy Kapur and Parineeti Chopra were in Agra, as part of a road trip for an upcoming film, they were shocked to see the state in which the river is.

In fact, they were so disturbed by the sight that they now plan to spread awareness about it, and do their bit towards its cleaning. "Parineeti and Aditya, who were in Agra on September 14, asked the locals about the government’s cleanliness programme. They also enquired if any NGOs have come forward to clean the river," says a source.

The actors have now decided to take up the matter, and lend a hand to the cause. "After leaving the area, they were constantly discussing initiatives that can be planned for a cleaner Yamuna," adds the source.

When contacted, Aditya confirms the news and says, "While driving through Agra, Parineeti and I saw the Yamuna. It was very disheartening to see the current state of the river. While there is so much talk about cleaning the Ganga, I feel the Yamuna also needs more focus."

Aditya’s spokesperson adds, "He is keen to contribute in any way possible. He wants to spread awareness, and get in touch with the authorities responsible to check how he can help."
