Barely eight films old in the industry, actor Ranbir Kapoor is already on his way to the industry’s Hall of Fame, given his superlative performance in Imitiaz Ali’s Rockstar. The film has collected R36-40 cr from theatres in the first weekend of its release, and so far a total of over Rs 75 crores.
To celebrate the success of the film at the box office, a party was organised in a Mumbai nightclub recently, where Ranbir aka Janardan aka Jordan, was seen along with his father Rishi Kapoor and director Imtiaz Ali.
Talking about Ranbir, who has been getting rave reviews from the audience and critics, filmmaker Karan Johar said, “Ranbir has a superstar presence. He has the combination of acting brilliance and cinema presence and he can only rise and rise,”
Ronnie Screwvala, chairman of UTV, too, was all praises for him, “Ranbir has displayed a versatility in his first five movies which only his grandfather (Raj Kapoor) has done till date,” he said. The Kapoor scion, however never lets success get to his head. “We are trying to impress an entire nation of moviegoers so we need a good entertaining film… and it must engage everyone, be it small town or metro,” says Ranbir.
