Debutant Maddalsa Sharma claims that she was the original choice for the lead role for Abbas Mastan’s film Players that later went to actor Sonam Kapoor. “Yes I was in conversation with Abbasji Mastanji for their forthcoming film Players. I consider both of them as my mentors and have immense respect for them but when I met Ganeshji (Ganesh Acharya) who narrated the script of Angel, I wanted this film to become my launch vehicle,” says Maddalsa.
She requested Abbas Mastan to drop her from Players so that she can do Angel and they agreed. The duo told her that the script of Angel was very good for her to debut with, as not often does an actor get such a strong and character driven role in their very first film.
Talking about her character, she says, “In the film, I suffer from cerebral Palsy, and can’t speak. It was challenging to express feelings without saying a word. But the film doesn’t make you cry… It’s a cute love story that will make you smile.” However, she adds, “I’d love to work with Abbasji and Mastanji whenever they have another film for me.”
Angel will also introduce Sanjay Dutt’s nephew Nilesh Sahay and is slated to release on Feb 4 this year.
