He is perhaps one of the most experienced actors in Bollywood, yet veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan is a director’s actor, says filmmaker Shoojit Sircar. “When he is on the set, he is a director’s actor. He listens to you intently and tries to understand your vision and then makes it a part of his vision,” says Sircar, who has directed Big B in the upcoming film, Piku.
His upcoming presents a slice from an everday life, and Sircar says that’s something he prefers over slapstick comedies. “Slice of life comedy is something which I enjoy more. These moments make you smile when you think about them. And these moments work for a film as well, rather than slapstick comedy,” says the Vicky Donor (2012) director.
And the director, who has made some compelling films such as Madras Cafe and Yahaan, says he has not faced any issues with the Censor Board, even as some in the industry seem unhappy with the body.
“I have done three films till now and I have not faced a single problem with the Board. All my films were based on sensitive issues, and they were passed without any problems. I give full credit to the Censor Board for being capable enough to do their work well. There are sensible people sitting there. I am not complaining about it at all,” he says.
