Legendary actor Pran, 93, will be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award as announced Friday.
Pran Krishan Sikand, popularly known as Pran, is an award-winning actor. Known for giving dark character, the villain, a cool makeover in Bollywood, his career spanned over six decades.
Soumitra Chatterjee and E Nageshwar Rao's names were also in the running for this prestigious award.
In the past Dilip Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Dev Anand and Yash Chopra have been honoured with the award.
Pran has appeared in over 350 films and has been awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India, for his contribution to Indian cinema.
The actor is best known for his performance in films like Zanjeer, Half Ticket, Don among several others.
