Priyanka Chopra looks smouldering hot in her cabaret dancer avatar in the song Asalaam e Ishqum from Gunday. She is seen wearing a range of outfits including a bikini top.

The fact that Ms Chopra is back in a glamorous avatar in Bollywood after a long time is enough for her fans to make a beeline to watch the song and, for that matter, the film. Here's what we liked about the song and what we did not.

Thumbs Up
Priyanka's spirit of experimentation: It's not just films, Priyanka tries to offer variety even in item numbers. It's a different thing that none of her item songs have really worked. So be it Pinky from Zanjeer, Babli Badmaash from Shootout at Wadala or Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram Chahe Leela (her energetic modern mujra number), the actress has tried to offer something new every time.

Thumbs Down
The mismatch of genre and lyrics: The lyrics would have worked better for a mujra or a slow number than a cabaret. Sample this:

Ishq hai woh aatish Ghalib
Jo jalaaye ne jale
Bujhaaye na bujhe

Apni salamati hai maangti
Tujhse nazar o naazani
Salaam se naakaam se
Dil ki kayi baatein bani

Average music: The music is quite run-of-the mill. The song still works with a video, it will probably not work on an earphone.
