Actor Priyanka Chopra and international pop icon Lady Gaga now have a lot more in common than being the entertainment celebs with the highest number of Twitter followers — in India and the world, respectively. Chopra has announced that she will make her debut as an international singer with top music label Universal Music Group, and representing her is none other than Gaga’s manager Troy Carter.
PC has already started writing and recording the English pop album with producers Desihits.com. “It’s such a big thing for me. I was planning it for a long time but keeping it to myself because I wanted to be sure. Music runs in my family. My father is my inspiration, I have seen him sing since I was a kid.” Jimmy Lovine, a mentor on American Idol and the chairman of the company that will bring out her album in North America — Interscope Records, says, “This is an amazing opportunity for all of us.” Describing the album, PC says, “There will be a mix of songs. There will be some ballads but overall, it will be a pop album. I will write my own music. I have recorded the album partially when I was in LA for a month.” The album is likely to hit the stands next year. “You can’t fix a date on creative things. Neither would they want to push it, nor would I want to compromise on my films,” she says.
In a recent interview, Gaga had said that she would like to work with Priyanka, so any chance that the singer will feature in any video? “There is definitely going to be a big collaboration but I can’t say anything right now. There is some time before we start working on the videos.”
