Squeezing out time from his busy political schedule, Congress youth icon Rahul Gandhi on Monday went to watch Ramvilas Paswan's son Chirag's debut film at a South Delhi multiplex.
While Paswan is a Rajya Sabha member with the help of Lalu Prasad and fought the last few elections against the Congress, Gandhi didn't allow political considerations to come in the way of his support toward Chirag Paswan.
Gandhi reportedly liked the movie 'Mile Na Mile Hum' that has Kangna Ranaut as its lead actress. According to sources present in the theatre, Gandhi praised Chirag Paswan's acting. The junior Paswan had welcomed Gandhi along with his parents Ramvilas and Rina.
Congress insiders pointed out that while this was purely a courtesy visit by Gandhi to encourage the young Paswan in his new profession, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had famously walked to Ramvilas Paswan's bungalow in 12 Janpath from her residence at 10 Janpath in early 2004 for a political dialogue.
The meeting between Gandhi and Ramvilas Paswan paved way for the formation of the first UPA that saw a coalition of non-BJP political forces coming to power in the subsequent election in April-May 2004.
The Paswans had made special arrangement for Gandhi at PVR Anupam at Saket.
After the movie was over, Chirag said, "Rahul appreciated the social message in the movie and my work. He wanted to know the time taken to shoot the project and asked me about my experience. He watched the movie like a family member and liked the songs and dance sequences."
