Raima Sen takes the short cut
Sen shoots for a short film; to be released with nine other shorts made by Anurag Kashyap and Sudhir Mishra, among othersbollywood Updated: Nov 13, 2012 01:11 IST
A group of 10 filmmakers — including the likes of Sudhir Mishra and Anurag Kashyap — announced Large Short Films, where 10 short films made by each of them would be amalgamated into one and released in a big way.
Raima Sen was then signed on to be part of one of the films, which is created by director Abhijeet Das. The actor says, “In the past, Abhijeet and I were supposed to do a feature film together, but it didn’t work out, so I chose to do this short film with him. What’s interesting is that my co-star in the film is a dog! I love dogs, but this is the first time I actually shot with one.”
Talking about her experience of shooting for the film, she adds, “It was a great learning experience, and I like to keep doing new things. I was free for three days, which fit well with Abhijeet’s schedule. So I readily agreed to do the film. However, I believe in doing quality work, which is how this movie has turned out. All the films will be premiered in a theatre as a big movie.”
Ask her if she thinks short films make a difference to an actor’s career, and she says, “I don’t know. Over three years ago, I did a short film with director Ruchi Narayan called Mumbai Passing, but it never released. I know this one will, and besides, I think it is a great platform that lets actors experiment. It also encourages new talent to showcase their work.”
