Contrary to the initial reports that suggested that he was riding a bike, the filmmaker was apparently a pillion passenger on the bike. The accident happened when the two-wheeler skid on the highway.
In the wee hours of Tuesday (August 11), film-maker Rajkumar Hirani met with a motorcycle accident in the city. Contrary to the initial reports that suggested he was riding the vehicle, we’re told that the film-maker was apparently riding pillion, when the two-wheeler went into a skid on the highway.
“Raju was working on the edit of his upcoming film. He was in his Bandra (W) office all day for the same, and he only left the premises late in the night with his team. He decided to go home on a bike with a team member so that he could also get some fresh air,” says a source close to the film-maker.
The insider adds that while it wasn’t raining heavily when they left, the roads were still wet. “On the Western Express Highway, the bike went into a skid. Raju hurt one side of his body, and suffered a minor injury on his jaw, for which he had to be operated on. He is better now. The doctors have kept him under observation,” says the source.
We tried contacting his family members, but they remained unavailable for a comment. A while back, Hirani’s close friend and actor, Aamir Khan tweeted, “For all those concerned about Raju Hirani, I have just met him in hospital. He is doing fine, and will be discharged this evening. (sic)”
