After publicly announcing that he won't show the film to Maria Susairaj, the filmmaker has done a volte-face and has decided to show her the film.
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma latest film Not A Love Story has been inspired by the gruesome murder of Neeraj Grover. Maria Susairaj, who has been sentenced to a three-year term for her involvement in the murder case had sent Ramu a legal notice demanding to watch the film before release.
While the director stubbornly refused to show her the film before, he seems to have acquiesced to her demands.
He posted on his Twitter page, "I am really keen to show maria susairaj the film on the basis of like I always maintained that it has been inspired from her story. I wud like to see Marias reaction on the film on account of hw close her emotional state wud hav been to that of mahee gills character (sic)."
Clarifying on why he refused to show her the film earlier, he tweeted, "I refused 2 shw Not a love story 2 Maria cos she ws threatening legal action bt nw it hs bn kpt aside so I wnt 2 voluntarily shw hr the film(sic)."
Ramu had earlier stated that he doesn't intend to show the film to Susairaj, "I will not show my film to Maria as I have repeatedly said that my film is just inspired by the incident and not completely based on her. There are so many differences in the film from the real life incident. My heroine is not a south Indian actress and her fiancé is not in Navy as in real case. Also, the film is just an interpretation of what could have happened and not a reporting on what actually happened. No one was there to know what the reality is. This is not her story and I am not showing the film to her."
