Delhi has always been a special city for Imtiaz Ali. The filmmaker, who has grown up in the capital, has shot some portions of each of his films there. So it comes as no surprise that even for his next, Tamasha — that sees him team up with Ranbir Kapoor after Rockstar (2011) — Imtiaz has gone back to Delhi.
However, this time, he is exploring regions beyond the main city. Imtiaz is taking Ranbir to parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) that the actor has never visited.
While they have already canned portions of the film in Vasant Kunj and Hauz Khas Village, Ranbir has also been spotted shooting in the popular Cyber Hub in Gurgaon, Haryana. "Ranbir was seen on set there in a corporate avatar, complete with an ID card around his neck. Later, the team also shot in some other buildings on MG Road, which is also in Gurgaon," says an insider.
For Rockstar, Imtiaz and Ranbir had filmed parts in Connaught Place, the Nizamuddin Dargah, Shri Ram College of Commerce and St Stephen’s College, apart from other locations. "The whole setting is new for Ranbir this time. They have been shooting for about 15 days, and will continue for another 20 days," adds the insider.
After wrapping up work in NCR, the makers will move to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, before coming back to Delhi. For Tamasha, Imtiaz has also shot for about 20 days in Corsica, France.
Neither Ranbir nor Imtiaz could be reached for comments.
