Ranbir Kapoor’s heart-rending performance in Rockstar has managed to convince Kishore Kumar’s family that Kapoor is the right choice to portray the legendary singer-actor on the big screen.
The official biopic of Kishore Da, as he is fondly known, has been on hold since quite some time now due to date problems and a no-objection nod from his family. The singer’s son Amit, however, seems to have had a change of heart now.
“Kishore Kumar was versatile. You won’t get a Kishore Da but Ranbir is a very good actor. He’ll do justice. I’ve seen Rockstar and he’s done a great job in that. The rest depends on the script and the director,” he said.
To be produced by UTV Motion Pictures and helmed by Anurag Basu, the movie will go on the floor by the end of this year. “A movie on Kishore Kumar needs extensive research,” says Amit Kumar, rubbishing rumours that he will be voicing Kishore’s character.
Buzz is that four more biopics on Kishore Da by Shoojit Sircar, Nagesh Kukunoor, Shashank Ghosh and Sudhir Mishra are also in the pipeline, but Amit says, “We have given the rights only to UTV. One movie is enough.” Basu and Ranbir, however, stay tight-lipped about the flick.
