After much deliberation, Rani Mukerji has finally signed Anurag Kashyap’s next production, Ayya. And due to the hectic shooting schedule, the actor won’t be in Mumbai to celebrate Durga puja, and will be forced to attend the festivities only for a day.
“I am looking forward to start my new film,” says Rani, adding, “During the puja, I will be busy shooting near Pune. So, I’ll only be able to attend the puja on October 3, the day of Saptami.” Last year, Rani was present at the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja in Santa Cruz.
“Over the past few years, my involvement with the puja has only been limited to attending it. Though, I remember going for puja and cultural programmes when I was younger,” she says,.
The actor admits she’s very gung ho about the film, saying, “First of all, it’s exciting because Kashyap and I are collaborating on a film. And with Ayya, he is entering my world of dance and music.”
Rani will star opposite Malayalam actor Prithviraj, who plays a Tamil painter in his debut Bollywood flick. Ayya will also mark the Bollywood debut of National Award-winning Marathi director Sachin Kundalkar.
“It’s a quirky love story between a Maharashtrian girl and a Tamil guy,” chuckles Rani, adding she has finished shooting for her upcoming untitled film with Aamir Khan. “I have finished shooting for the movie. Now, I am looking forward to the release, which I think will be early next year,” says Rani.
