Ranveer Singh is India’s answer to Russell Crowe: Anil Kapoor

Impressed with his performance in the latest film starring Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor says that Ranveer Singh is ‘India’s answer to Russell Crowe from Gladiator’! Directed by Tidley Scott, Gladiator is an epic historical drama, starring Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Ralf Möller, Oliver Reed and Djimon Hounsou in prominent roles.

Anil Kapoor is so impressed by his nephew Ranveer Singh’s performance in Bajirao Mastani that the superstar has compared his stint with Hollywood actor Russell Crowe’s in Oscar-winning film Gladiator.

Anil said Ranveer role as a Peshwa in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed period drama was his best work of his career so far. “India’s answer to @russellcrowe from gladiator @RanveerOfficial!,” he posted on Twitter.

Ranveer, who shared screen space with Anil in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do, too thanked his uncle for his kind words. “Thanks AK! Was hoping I could make you proud. Great seeing you last night... Congrats on winning the award for DDD!,” Ranveer tweeted.

Gladiator, an epic historical drama, starred Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, Connie Nielsen, Ralf Möller, Oliver Reed and Djimon Hounsou in prominent roles. The 2000 film was directed by Ridley Scott.
