Ratna Pathak to play Vivaan's mom in a film

Casting a real family together in a film is always interesting - be it Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan in Sarkar (2005), Dharmendra with Sunny and Bobby Deol in Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011) or Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor in Besharam.

Now, film-maker Farah Khan has got Ratna Pathak Shah to play her younger son Vivaan's mother in her next venture, Happy New Year.

Ratna says, "It is a one-shot appearance, not even a big scene. Farah asked me to do it and I said yes. I wouldn't even call it a cameo. I have already shot the portion." The film's ensemble cast also features Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Sonu Sood.

The veteran actor adds that shooting for the part was good fun. "Farah is a friend and it was good to be part of this film," says Ratna. The senior actor has done movies like Golmaal 3 (2010) and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) in the recent years, and will soon reprise her mom Dina Pathak's role in the remake of Khubsoorat (1980).
