Television audiences will be familiar with the name Karissma Tanna, thanks to her role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and more recently, in Balveer. However, the actor might finally realise her desire to act in films, thanks, in no small measure, to Vivek Oberoi.
The latter, it seems, has recommended Karissma for not one, but two films. Karissma says that Vivek called her on the sets of Krrish 3 (which Vivek is a part of). “He mentioned his two films, Grand Masti and Sher, and offered me the latter. He recommended my name to Sohum Shah (director), who called me and gave his approval,” Karissma says.
Sher is presently on hold due to Sanjay Dutt’s unavailability. However, shooting for it has done Karissma no harm. She says, “While shooting for Sher, Vivek liked my work and again recommended me for Grand Masti. Vivek also let me pick between the role of the girlfriend or the wife. He wanted me to play the girlfriend, but I chose to play the wife.” Grand Masti will now mark Karissma’s Bollywood debut.
About her proximity with Vivek, Karissma says, “Vivek and I go a long way; we know each other through a common friend. He always said that I have the face to do films (sic),” says Karissma, adding, “This is just the beginning of my career. And Vivek is just a nice person who’s helping me and trying to be a godfather to me (sic).”
