Filmmakers go to great lengths to keep their movies’ finer points under wraps — from embargoes on film reviews to stars keeping their lips zipped during interviews. Joining this list of tight security measures is Milan Luthria’s next, the sequel to the 2010 hit Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. The makers, while shooting Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 in Muscat, Oman, made sure that every precautionary measure was taken to prevent the looks of their actors from being leaked out. As the film is set in the 1980s, Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in outfits and make-up that suit the era. A source says, “Mobile phones were banned on the sets. They (the makers) even hired a local security agency, Omani Security, to keep an eye on the people frequenting the sets. The guards made sure that no trespassers managed to get in.”

Producer Ekta Kapoor confirms the news, saying, “We did this to ensure that the looks that we’ve given our stars aren’t leaked or copied.” Milan echoes the sentiment saying, “We've spent a lot of time and effort in fine-tuning the actors’ looks. Since the film is set in the ’80s, and we want to recreate the flamboyance and the machismo of the time, we felt the need to protect the avatars.”

Are they being too fussy about this added secrecy surrounding their movie? Milan says, “I’m being paranoid to keep it under wraps, especially in today’s tech savvy times. We also imposed strict rules about photography on sets. The looks have been finalised after weeks of adjustments.”
