Known for hit songs like Humma (Bombay, 1995), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, 1998) and more recently, Maria Pitache (David), veteran singer Remo Fernandes will now make his acting debut in Bollywood. The Goan singer will be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s upcoming film, Bombay Velvet (BV) that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.

"Remo was finalised only a few days ago. He will play a Portuguese musician in the film. Although it’s not a very big part, it is quite interesting. He will soon fly out to Sri Lanka, where the cast and crew of BV are already shooting for the film,” says an insider from the unit.

Apparently, the makers were looking for an actor who could speak fluent Portuguese in the period film that is set in the 1960s. “And the moment Remo’s name came up, Anurag agreed because he can speak the language and also because he is a real-life musician,” adds the insider.

Recently, Remo lent his voice to the title track of Love U Soniyo, a film that marked the launch of yesteryear actor Rati Agnihotri’s son, Tanuj Virwani. The 60-year-old singer will also be composing for Kaizad Gustad’s next starring Sunny Leone.
