Contrary to expectations, Rishi Kapoor is not playing Krishna Iyer MA, Mithun Chakraborty’s comical coconut seller in the new Agneepath. “His is a completely new character and will come as a big shock,” promises Karan.

Rishi admits that even he had assumed that he was being approached for Mithun’s role, but when director Karan Malhotra sketched out his character for him, his first reaction was, “You must be joking! From which angle do I look like such a bad person to you? Yeh film nahin chalengi (The film will flop) and I’ll be the reason for it not working.”

The actor then insisted on doing a ‘look’ test for the first time in his 40-year career: “It was to convince myself as much as the two Karans, that I could carry off a character that is so black. I’ve never done something like this before.”
