After almost three decades, Bollywood’s former blue-eyed boy is returning to the big screen with his wife and actor, Neetu Singh. Rishi Kapoor and Singh will be seen in Walt Disney’s first Hindi venture, the feature film Do Dooni Chaar.

The film will release on October 8. The film revolves around the life of a lower middle class family - the Duggals. “Rishi Kapoor plays the father. The film establishes how he has to consciously try to make a decent living with his schoolteacher salary and the increasing prices,” says the official spokesperson for the film, under the condition of anonymity.

The film has been produced by Planman Pictures and directed by Habib Faisal. He has earlier written Siddharth Anand’s Salaam Namaste, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Shaad Ali’s Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

Swati Shetty, Executive Director, theatrical productions and acquisitions, Walt Disney Studios International Production, India says: “Do Dooni Chaar best represents Disney’s storytelling. The touching narrative of the film will make every Indian family fall in love with the characters.”

Neetu Singh will be seen playing Kapoor’s onscreen wife in this film. Her character loves the good life. There is also a demanding teenage daughter and a son. All hell breaks loose when the family buys a car.
“The story of the Duggal family will resonate strongly with Indian audiences. It is a story of universal heartache and triumph,” said Shubho Shekhar Bhattacharjee, CEO and Creative Director, Planman Motion Pictures.
