Riteish Deshmukh, who has turned producer with the Marathi film Balak Palak (BP), is all geared up for its release on January 4. But prior to that, the actor plans on making his friends from Bollywood watch it. What’s more, he has even arranged for a couple of special screenings of the film that has been directed by Ravi Jadhav and co-produced by Uttung Thakur.

A source close to the actor says, “He (Riteish) hopes to have as many people from the industry as possible watch the film and give their feedback. From filmmaker buddies Karan Johar, Sujoy Ghosh, Sajid Khan, Inder Kumar to actor friends Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Ashish Chowdhry, Aftab Shivdasani, Chunky Pandey, Tusshar Kapoor, Boman Irani, Sohail Khan, Sanjay Kapoor, Lara Dutta and Asin, among many others, Riteish plans on hosting a screening for them.”

The source adds that since most of his friends do not speak Marathi, the film will be screened with subtitles. “He plans to make a special print of the film with English subtitles,” says the source.

Meanwhile, there has been buzz that the movie has already been selected for two reputable film festivals: the South Asian International Film Festival (SAIFF) in New York and MAMI in Mumbai, and has received tremendous support from the Marathi industry at large. BP is a youth-oriented film that deals with a the concept of sex education among children and how it’s dealt with by parents.
