Yesterday, the Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer
released in 2,000 screens worldwide, half of them in India alone. Girish Wankhede of Cinemax chain of multiplexes said the movie saw a 10 to 15 per cent occupancy in the morning show, “The response isn’t as frenzied as it is in Chennai. But I am confident that the collections will pick up through word of mouth.”
At Arora theatre in Matunga, huge cutouts of the superstar were seen and several fans thronged to watch their idol's latest venture. In Tamil Nadu, the tri-lingual film, directed by Shankar, opened to a "superb" response, industry sources said, adding tickets had been sold out for the next 10 days. Celebrating their icon's latest release, die-hard Rajni fans performed
to his giant cutouts outside theatres and burst crackers.
