Producer-director Rohan Sippy is a busy man. Apart from expecting his first child with wife Roopa De Choudhury, he is also looking forward to the release of his latest directorial venture, Nautanki Saala, starring actor Ayushmann Khurana and Kunal Roy Kapoor.
“It is a fun comedy which revolves around the world of theatre. It focuses on the bond between Ayshmann and Kunal who are essentially gray characters,” says the 28-year-old filmmaker whose last film was Dum Maaro Dum.
“Lots of unexpected things have happened this year. I am really excited about the film and my child. It is the biggest event in my life,” he adds.
Ask him if choosing not to work with actor Abhishek Bachchan for Nautanki Saala was deliberate, and he clarifies that there is no love lost. “We have worked together three times in the past. Abhishek is doing a cameo in this movie. We will definitely work together if something works out and there is a script which does justice to him as an actor,” Sippy says. As far as future projects are concerned, he says, “Apart from wrapping up Nautanki Saala, I am also evaluating scripts and working on a few things. Hopefully, within the next six months, I will be starting something new.”
