Bheja Fry director Sagar Ballary and Minissha Lamba are at loggerheads. Sagar insists that he was kept in the dark about her doing a promotional song for his film, Hum Tum Shabana. The actor, in her defence finds it “weird” that the director doesn’t know what’s happening with his own film.
She says, “Being upset with me about working on a song for his own film is ridiculous.” There were also reports that she refused to sport a bikini for a scene, for which model Pia Trivedi had to be roped in eventually. The actor claims, “I wore a bikini for Kidnap (2008) so I definitely don’t have anything against it. My only apprehension was sporting it again so soon. I had informed Sagar that I wasn’t up for that. Then, he assured me that he would work around it.”
The first half of the film is about Shabana (Minissha Lamba) entering a beauty pageant where she immediately realises she is a misfit. “She is unlike anything that a model should be and yet is hoping to win,” says Minissha, adding that she has wanted to do a comedy film for a while now. “Generally women don’t have much of a role in comedy films. But in this one, all the drama and action revolves around my character. So Shabana is critical to the plot. That’s what made me say yes to the film.”
While the actor insists she maintains a professional relationship with Sagar even now, she remains non-committal about working with him in the future.
Post Hum Tum Shabana that hits theatres today, the actor will be seen alongside Shreyas Talpade in Joker and Arshad Warsi in Zilla Ghaziabad.
