Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor to battle it out at the box office
While Saif Ali is Kareena Kapoor’s husband, she was in a relationship with Shahid back earlier. Both actors’ action dramas — Saif’s Bullett Raja and Shahid’s Rambo Rajkumar — will take each other on this November 29.
This November, the industry will witness a big clash at the box office. However, the conflict this time is touted to be slightly more personal, as the two stars involved are Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor.
While the former actor is Kareena Kapoor’s husband, she was in a relationship with the latter back in the day. Both actors’ action dramas — Saif’s Bullett Raja and Shahid’s Rambo Rajkumar — will take each other on this November 29.
“It’s a coincidence. But whether the makers like it or not, this topic (of the clash between Saif and Shahid) is bound to come up,” says trade analyst Taran Adarsh. “Otherwise too, the collision is going to be big since both the movies feature top names. Plus, with directors like Tigmanshu Dhulia (Bullett Raja) and Prabhudheva (Rambo Rajkumar) and the involvement of studios like Fox Star and Eros, the situation will be interesting.” At the same time, trade analysts also feel that the films might benefit from the buzz created as a result of the clash.
While, Bullett Raja was initially set to release on September 6, Rambo Rajkumar was scheduled for November 15. “Ultimately, the content will be the deciding factor since both the films play with similar genres,” says exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.
However, the makers seem unaffected about the impending row. “We don’t want any controversy. Tigmanshu and I have always focused on our work. I’m confident about my film. We shifted from our date as we needed time to market the film well,” says Rahul Mittra, CEO, BrandSmith Motion Pictures (co-producers of Bullett Raja).
