Sajid Khan, after laughing all the way to the bank with two hits,

Heyy Babyy

and

Housefull

, will be directing a revenge action drama next, for which he is collaborating with director Shimit Amin, writers Shiraz Ahmed (

Race, Wanted

) and Sameer Sharma (

Bhoot, Swades

) for the script. Vashu Bhagnani will produce the film. Khan says that Sharma and he have been friends for 12 years.

“I was taken aback when Shimit, whom I’ve only met once or twice, said he’d like to write the film with me,” he says, adding that after a month of scripting, the trio has decided to include a thriller angle for additional impact.

“I was impressed with

Race

. I think it’s one of the best-written thrillers in three decades. So we got Shiraz to join the team. We sit together, brainstorm and write,” elaborates the director who will narrate the script to Bhagnani this week.

Aren’t there moments of disagreement? “After completing the first draft, I can say we had a great time working together. One guy would be walking all over the room. Another would be slouched on a couch and another keying the script away. Apart from writing, we ate lots of food,” laughs Khan.

It’s learnt that Ranbir Kapoor has been signed on for the film. “No one has been approached yet,” says Khan. “Only after locking the script we’ll be sure which actors to cast.”

Khan will also direct the

Housefull

sequel for producer Sajid Nadiadwala with the original cast.

“It’s a challenge to create a screenplay five times funnier with more actors and more chaos,” he says. “Both the films will take off next year, but I don’t know which one rolls first.”
