In an interview with UC News, Salman said, “This is a very important part, where Laxman starts getting his belief back and that is where Shah Rukh’s character comes in. He is a magician and gives Laxman all the power. This is what the whole character is, and then from there, his belief and his self- confidence reaches another level.”

Salman also praised his new co-star, Matin Rey Tangu. “He is like one of the amazing kids I have ever met,” said Salman. “He is superb and on a different level. He calls me ‘Bibing Salman’, which means older brother. He’ll call everyone ‘uncle’ but he’ll call me ‘brother’.”

Asked if any other actor should have played Laxman, Salman replied, “Aamir hasn’t played the character like that, but Aamir is really good. Hrithik has done it, so Hrithik would be a good choice too. And Akki (Akshay Kumar). Anyone would have done this. I’m sure if they would have accepted the role, they would have done full justice to the role. It’s just that I am locked up with Kabir.”

Meanwhile, a video was leaked online showing Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo in the film.

Tubelight hits theatres on Friday. It is set against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China War. It also features Sohail Khan, the Chinese actress Zhu Zhu, and the late Om Puri.
